On sustained high notes, I'm getting lower harmonics sounding - I think an octave lower. This is happening from F to top C. I've been doing lots of high lip slurs and long tones. The actual note is solidly there, there's just this annoying lower quiet harmonic in it. Does anyone have any suggestions for particular exercises to get rid of this, besides what I'm doing at the moment, or should I just keep doing that?
The interesting thing is that I think this is partly due to the cup, because I did try the US-2 rim on the 23 cup and it was still happening. I then switched to the 3B and it stopped. So it's something to do with the bore of the cup which is making these lower harmonics happen. Is it just because I have to put more air through, faster, and I'm not used to that on the 3B and the lower air pressure is letting these other notes creep in?
Thoughts..?
