He may be, but I can see why you might want a long F extension on a Bb/F alto - the F alto does in principle give you a low C, B, Bb, but they are very parpy. And G below middle C must be fingered 1&3 on the Bb horn, which, if you are used to a double horn set to stand up in Bb, is a convenient 'thumb' note. As is the G an octave above.Tom
