Worth checking out if you can find them are the records made with Henry Mancini's orchestra. Particularly good are Mancini 67, The Blues and the Beat, The Concert Sound of...., with Mr DeRosa on first and an amazing section alongside. I also think it must be him on some early Previn lps - there's one called Sound Stage with a band directed by one Johnny Williams in his youth. Not to mention some Jackie Gleason records - one called The Velvet Touch springs to mind. Ivor
