We have heard the sad news that Ian Keddie died after an emergency operation after he broke his hip.

Ian was 4th Horn in the LPO for many years and under several different 1st Horns including Keith Whitmore, Ron Harris and latterly the late Nick Busch.

Before he joined the LPO Ian was in the RPO playing 2nd and 4th Horn.

He was very intelligent, very good company and possessed a quick dry wit. We will miss him.

RiP the man who inspired me.

I sat behind Ian Keddie at a concert in Watford Town Hall when I was about 12. I'd never really heard low horn playing before that, and it made me decide there and then that this was the sound I wanted to make. Very sorry to hear that he is dead. David Pickles.
