I own an older HZ 20 AX which is great - does exactly what I bought it for - high playing.

I have recently got a modern 21A Z cup as well - again, I have no complaints and seem to be able to play more quietly with more control.

I ordered a Z cup from Paxmans in April - they stated they are were waiting for a delivery for an order placed in November. I will make sure to post an objective opinion as and when I take delivery.

This cup must be very special if it takes as long to make as a human.

Can't wait. :?

If your Z cup was ordered by Paxman then it has been made, annealed, plated and is on its way to Paxman this week (with 500 more PHC cups and rims being held as stock by PHC/HornCups UK Ltd).

If it is not one of the Z cups ordered by Paxman then it is one HornCups UK Ltd have ordered as stock and has been made and is ready to be annealed, plated and posted when required.

They are good and I bet you £5 you like it.

The PHCs which were ordered by Paxman have all been made, annealed (in the case of our Z cups), plated, checked, packed and dispatched to Paxman, so the PHC cups and rims which a lot of horn players were patiently waiting for will be unpacked at Paxman this week.

Improvements and additions to the PHC range include:

All new PHC rims now have unplated screw-threads for an easier fit.

PHC 22A, 23A, 24A and 25A cups now have the original 4.70mm bore and the original backbore which is better for the high register and better for stamina.

Heavy cups are available again and most Heavy Z cups are in stock at PHC's machinists.

Z cups have all had their threads individually checked to fit all PHC rims, old and new and the plating is now 15 microns of silver over a flash of copper.

HornCups UK Ltd placed the biggest order ever from our machinists so we are able to hold a significant amount of stock in reserve for the first time. Z cups which were not ordered have been made and are ready to be annealed and plated when an order for Z cups is received.

What is a PHC X10? is it another new range - maybe a cryogenic treatment (freezing) as an alternative to the annealing of the Z cup? :o :geek:
