I had a frantic call from a Herr Gumbert who is beside himself with woe and all things associated as well as bored. (There was a pun there somewhere).
Apparently poor Fritz was told that not even Paxman's*, that hallowed hall of all things trivial, were stocking his magnum opus.
Furthermore, some bright USA-based spark had reduced what were his original 12 volumes down to 10. (I thought the volume only went to 11 in such cases without causing spontaneous combustion).
Is there no shame attached to depriving the youth of today of access to such learning and deriving knowledge of such rewarding soli as Schumann's Genoveve** Overture?
I suggest PAX should be encouraged to immediately consult their drawers and order some Gumbert, Kopprasch, Franz, Galley** or even Kling, Hening or Belloli before we are really banished to playing the curled trombone having forgotten our roots completely.
Greetings, Horncrook PS If you haven't a bleedin' clue what this is about then that's case in point ain't it? * Dear A, the apostrophe is alluding to Paxman's Horn Center and is thus correct ** Dear A, this was the English spelling of Genoveva, don't be so pedantic *** Galley, Gallay - I used the original spelling from the Op.43 Concert Studies
