I was at a dinner Saturday night after a high school festival concert with about 10 local choral directors and their spouses. (I was one of the spouses) Anyway, the husband of one of the directors got up and started to enterttain us with his unique talent. I have seen him around in pit bands and such... he is actually a decent violinist. But what he was sharing with us was his ability to make music just with his hands. People who do this are called "Manualists." After we finished insulting him with all the obvious dirty little jokes and wordplays, he plied his talent. What a riot. He asked for requests. I requested the piccolo obligato from "Stars and Stripes." He nailed it sans trills. For a good laugh, go to:
