this:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b0 ... Beethoven/

Missed it when it went out; just listening to it - it made my spine tingle, like the old Barboteau recording I used to have.

Our horn section booked some tickets at the last minute and we were sitting in the second row right underneath the soloists - just amazing, certainly not playing it safe! I noticed that when the horns walked off at the end the rest of the orchestra all had huge grins on their faces, clearly everyone involved enjoyed it as much as we did.
Not so impressed with the Beethoven later, horns fine, but not sure about Mr Oramo...

Sandy, can you tell us what instruments the soloists in the Schumann were playing? Martin Owen usually plays an Alex 107x, doesn't he? That might be a good bet for the first part.

I presume Nick Hougham is still sticking with his Alex 103 (or is it a 1103 now?).

Right on both I think: 107x and 103

I agree with all the comments so far. A very exciting Konzertstuck.

It was an all Alexander section - Martin and Andy on descants and Mike & Nick on 103s.

Another excellent performance of the Konzertstuck at the Barbican last night, on par with the BBCSO back in January 2014. Messrs Watkins and Black, and Ms Woolley all played superbly, as did Mr Thompson who seemed very pleased to have bagged the fourth horn part!!
