I'm thinking of trading in my yellow brass, Paxman 20M for a yellow 20L and, rather than faffing about with selling and then buying, I just wondered if there might be someone out there interested in making some kind of a swap?

I do think my 20M is a particularly good example. More info upon request.

Why should JonE want a Conn when he specifically mentions a Paxman 20L?
;)

Swap a Paxman for a Conn plus how much hard cash?

No thank you. While I do have a soft spot for 8Ds, I am afraid I would find it a little too unwieldy for my day-to-day work.

The Paxman 'L' sized bell is not that big really.

Thanks for your interest!

You can always see how much it would cost to get a repairer in the UK, there's a few to choose from in London now, to convert your Medium bore to a Europa or Large bore. That might be the cheapest option, especially if you like your current horn but want to have the large bell.

I have toyed with that idea Caty and I may well look into it further. Really, to turn a Paxman 'M' into an 'L', however, you would need to change the leadpipe also. It is an interesting idea, though, and you are right: it does mean I could hang on to what I believe to be a particularly good instrument.

You'd need to change the leadpipe, the bell and quite possibly the first branch as well. This will change not only the way your horn sounds, but also how it plays.. Just saying..

Why would you need to change the leadpipe? As far as I'm aware the leadpipe on Paxman 20s is the same whichever bell size you have.
