I don't think there will be much interest, in the UK, in an ascending-3rd-valve horn.
Is there still a continuing tradition of this type of horn in e.g. France, Belgium, Spain & The Netherlands? if so, your best bet would be to advertise it in 'mainland Europe' and possibly the USA where there are probably some enthusiastic '3rd-valve-ascending- anoraks'.

With the addition of a "normal" 3rd valve crook and a bit of swapping about, this horn could be reconfigured to work as a "normal" Bb single with c-alto and F crooks on the thumb valves, which is a more popular layout for an ascending 5-valve single :geek:

I think the ascending 3rd valve on the Bb side is a useful alternative to going for the Bb and high F route. Excellent top B, Bb, A, G#, G and F#, all with the ascending 3rd valve down. A bit lacking in overtones on C# on the third space but the concept of a C valve was used by Dennis Brain who was more of an innovator than a lot of current players IMHO.

There's bound to be a combination fingering to give richer third space C# for slow playing.

A quick experiment would reveal the most in tune out of the possibilites:
125 (8th partial)
24/45 [or 1234/1345] (9th partial)
124/145/245 [or maybe 1245] (10th partial)
(NB: 4 = F-valve, 5 = stop-valve)

There may be more options as well!

You have obviously studied Anthony Halstead's "50 different fingerings for the 4th horn solo in Don Juan which, as you know, has a total of six notes.

Where can we find this most useful resource? Online perhaps?

In Farquharson Cousins' book.
Mr T.H. told me himself that in fact his '50 different fingerings' are only for the last 4 notes not all 6 notes, and furthermore. there are actually only 48 different fingerings as 2 of them are duplicated. Since he wrote them out by hand nearly 50 years ago, long before computers and the internet etc/ were commonplace, I'm sure I / we can excuse him for that small error...
