Anybody know anything about this horn (nearly 100 years old) or this type of horn generally?

I've always wanted to own a nice 'vintage' horn, I've never liked Kruspes or handhorns, so, would this Zimmermann be worth paying £2K+ for?

here are some 'factoids' I've picked up about these horns (treat with appropriate caution)

- Geyer maintained the design has less 'kinks' in the airway than any other (even Geyers) making them free blowing and perhaps accounting for some people's devotion to them despite..
- ...a left hand position that seems awkward. I've seen it referred to as the 'Schmidt Claw'
- ...and a reputation for a 'bad' high Bb. This horn clearly has a good one by Tony's description
- some people have tried to cure the bad Bb by re-positioning the braces
- Conn and King made this design, some with a Bb tuning slide.
- modern makers including Yamaha have produced them, according to Dick Martz: http://www.rjmartz.com/horns/schmidt/cfschmidt.html

er... that's it.

You would be better off for only £90 more, buying this vintage Alexander 103, at least people of 'heard of' Alexander but who knows anything about 'Zimmerman'? :?

Well there's quite a lot of information about Zimmerman in the advert
Horns from small makers in the Markneukirchen area have always been, and still are, amongst the finest in the world 8-)
On paper, it should be a very good instrument and well worth a try for anyone looking for something more interesting than the mainstream.
