Mike is advertising Heavy Z-cups. Are they in this latest batch?

Yes. We now have stocks of all PHC cups and rims. Standard cups, Heavy Cups, "Z" Cups, Heavy "Z" Cups and the full range of rims, silver-plated, gold-plated and acetal. The clear acrylic rims will be along later. The final batch of rims were received back from the platers yesterday so we finally have everything we ordered.

Paxman's order is being packed on Monday so everything ordered by Paxman should be received and unpacked by them during the first week of December. If there are any gaps in Paxman's stock we will be able to supply them. They are also available online as you have mentioned.

Sorry for the long wait. We are well placed for future orders which was the long-term plan.

Tony C, do the clear acrylic rims feel different from the acetal rims?

Yes they do. The acetal rims work well for a lot of horn players. They are very comfortable and are hypoallergenic.

The clear acrylic rims will also be hypoallergenic but will feel more like a newly gold-plated rim. Very smooth and as hard as a metal rim but with no texture to grip or stick on to, which is what the horn players who like acetal rims seem to prefer. The acrylic rims have been tried and tested by professionals already and while N likes his and is using it C prefers the grip of the acetal rims.

Incidentally we have tried to think of a horn player who has damaged his or her embouchure playing an acetal rim but have not been able to think of any. Is this an accurate summary of another benefit of playing on an acetal rim or has anyone managed to hurt themselves playing one?

I've seen some of these clear acrylic rims around now. They look very good.

A fellow brass player has spoken about a feeling of a 'dry mouth' when playing a silver plated instrument.

Any ideas anyone?

He was comfortable on a brass instrument but the dry mouth combined with a silver plated instrument problem persists. Anyone know the amswer?
