I woke up this morning to find that my bottom lip was feeling a tiny bit numb. For most of the day it hasn't seemed to be that noticeable and I just thought that I've been overdoing it a bit (I've been playing everyday quite a lot for the last 4 days) so I haven't been worried that it's too serious. But I had another quick practise just now and the numbness seems to have spread onto my cheek. I'm really starting to get worried now is this a sign of some serious nerve damage? Has anyone had any experience with this kind of thing?

thanks

Just occured to me that it's probably a wisdom tooth thing. Hopefully anyway. Brass playing can't cause numbness in the cheek surely?

THIS IS NOT MEDICAL ADVICE

Had you been by any chance sleeping on it?

What on the Horn? :)

@rspearing: Maybe your partner punched you while you were sleeping? :)

It seems to have cleared itself up. I think it's stress related. I've had similar symptoms in the past diagnosed as so.

This excellent recording of the Ride of the Valkyries will help relieve your stress symptoms. Works for me. 8-)
