ratio will be more like 50/50.

I agree with many that you will see more female Horn players in more well known groups.

It was, and still is, male dominated; biasedly so. One example, look at Julie Landsman. The Met had always used males and never hired a woman until they started using truely blind/black curtain auditions. And the first time they did they picked a woman, Julie. As more orchestras go to true black curtain auditions you will see more women.

Sottish Opera Orchestra has unusual terms and conditions due to political reasons
not found elsewhere resulting in a lot of free time for certain players. This allows them
to take on much extra work not enjoyed by other players in the vicinity.
