The London Symphony Orchestra’s Principal Horn, David Pyatt, will be performing
Strauss’s Second Horn Concerto with the Orchestra conducted by Valery
Gergiev on Thu 11 Feb at the Barbican, London – please click here
(http://lso.co.uk/detailedeventinfo&show ... ailID=4833)
for further details and here (http://lso.co.uk/200910season) to watch a
video interview with David.
I will be going to hear this, as David was an occasional pupil of mine in the 1980s before he won the BBC Young Musician competition.
I'm looking forward to it very much!
:D

David Pyatt has gone ill for Strauss 2 with the LSO at the Barbican. Radovan Vlatkovic is taking his place.

Yes, and YES! Sat 2 rows from front looking up into his bell most of the time - masterclass in use of the right hand. Speaking strictly as an 'umble hammerchewer, it seemed pretty impressive to me. Playing the interstellar call as an encore was a bonus, and Heldenleben was fun!
