"27th November 2011 at 4.00pm
Dukes Hall, Royal Academy of Music, London NW1

To celebrate the life and achievements of Bob, who died in July and to launch the Bob Paxman Young Horn Players Trust, there will be tributes and a concert featuring some of the world’s finest horn players who have all come to pay their respects to the man who did so much for the development of the horn.

Tickets can be reserved from Paxman, by email or phone on +44 (0)20 7620 2077 and a suggested minimum donation of £7.50 towards launching the Bob Paxman Young Horn Players Trust is payable on the door."

Further details will appear on this page as they become available.

There is a strong rumour that Sarah Willis will be there for her many fans, so an opportunity for you all to see and hear her in the flesh. You might be able to persuade her to talk as well, possibly about herself?

Tony, you are awful!

But proof (a) that he actually reads the posts here and (b) that he hasn't lost his wicked sense of humour!

Did any of those players take part in the Memorial concert for Dick Merewether in 1985?

Some of us took part in the memorial to the passing of Ralph Hawkes of Boosey & Hawkes, formerly of Hawkes & Son.

It was an oblique reference to the lack of appreciation of what the late Richard Merewether did for us hornplayers.
I was 'around' in London in 1985-86 and I don't recall any 'Merewether' memorial concert'... maybe I'm wrong..? Anybody care to let me know? Was there one?
